Nothing has released a new update for its latest device, the Nothing Phone (2), and it includes a ton of camera improvements. Some additional changes have been issued, and also bug fixes. The changelog is quite large.
The Nothing Phone (2) just received a major update that boosts camera performance & more
When it comes to cameras, let’s start with the changes that affect all cameras on the phone. Nothing has improved the clarity of faces in indoor environments. It has also optimized highlight levels in low light environments.
On top of that, the company added a UI element to show when HDR is active. Speaking of HDR, Nothing optimized highlight exposure when shooting in HDR, and also reduced “dull tones” when shooting in HDR. The last change that affects all cameras resolves a halo effect issue in Portrait Mode when shooting in HDR.
The cameras performance has been improved across the board
Now, regarding changes to the rear cameras in specific. Nothing enhanced photo clarity in 50MP mode, and optimized stability and contrast when recording videos. The photo quality in low-light settings has also been boosted, while the contrast and bokeh effect has been improved in Portrait mode.
While we’re on the Portrait mode, Nothing also optimized the clarity of faces when shooting in that mode. HDR processing speed has also been increased.
Nothing also issued some changes to the front camera in specific. The photo clarity has been increased. The quality in low-light settings has also been improved. HDR processing speed has been increased for the selfie camera too.
Some new non-camera features have been added
In regards to new features and changes, there are several entries in the changelog. Nothing introduced a feature that can shut down apps when the device reaches a specific temperature. In other words, when it reaches a temperature limit.
The out-of-battery visual when the device is switched off has been refined. Nothing also added different icons for each of the Nothing audio products to the volume control menu. Also, Google’s July security patch has been issued.
You’ll also notice a bunch of bug fixes in the changelog
On top of all that, some bug fixes have been included too. The company reworked the haptic feedback strength when typing. It also improved the responsiveness of the touch panel under specific conditions. The reliability of the network for multiple global carriers has been improved too.
The performance of some games when played in HDR has been boosted, as did system stability. Issues with Dirac Audio have been amended. An issue affecting Google Wallet‘s functioning in cloned apps has been fixed.
If you’ve had issues with ‘double tap to wake’ being unresponsive at times, that shouldn’t be the case anymore. An issue causing the Bluetooth Quick Settings tile to be unresponsive has also been fixed. Some other, unnamed bug fixes have been issued.
This update is now rolling out to all Nothing Phone (2) units. It is rolling out in stages, though, so be patient.
