Samsung has launched a special version of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. The Astro Edition is a customized 47mm Bluetooth version of the watch. It is inspired by the astrolabe, an astronomical instrument of the ancient times. Samsung says this watch aims to “bridge the past with the future and honor the groundwork laid by historical pioneers” of astronomy.
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition features a “Black Astro” bezel that depicts various heavenly bodies, such as stars and constellations. Samsung has also customized the software to add astrolabe features and watch faces. The dial comes with a unique compass reminiscent of the ancient device. This watch can also track the movements of the sun and moon. It can show solar and lunar phases as well.
Samsung is offering some freebies with this watch. Buyers get a free Fabric Band, Astro Edition collectibles, and access to the company’s VIP exclusive promotion store. In some markets (we will discuss its availability shortly), the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition comes in a bundle that includes a pair of Galaxy Buds 2, one year of Samsung Care+, and 5X Samsung rewards points at no additional cost.
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition won’t be available globally
The limited-edition Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is an interesting watch, but you may not be able to buy it. Samsung has limited it to a handful of countries in the MENA (Middle East & North Africa) region. More specifically, it is available in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE. Pricing varies depending on the market. If you’re in a position to buy the watch, check Samsung’s local online stores for these countries.
According to Samsung, this is the first-ever limited-edition Galaxy Watch dedicated to the region. It is a tribute to MENA’s explorers and innovators, the company explains. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition symbolizes the region’s legacy of contributions to science, astronomy, and mathematics. The Korean firm plans to bring more such limited-edition collections of watches to the region in the future.
This watch is “a testament and tribute to the Middle East’s innovators and their historical prominence in the fields of mathematics, science, and innovation,” said Omar Saheb, Samsung MENA’s Regional Marketing Director. “This exciting launch not only marks another milestone in technological advancement but also underscores our anticipation for the myriad of ways the MENA region will continue to shape the future of technology.”
